If you hate the taste of wine

Why do you drink it until you're blind?

Amy Winehouse. Yet another vicim of the 27 club. It is simply a mere coincidence that I'm currently reading 'Trainspotting', the bestseller by Irvine Welsh. Absolutely bloody amazing, a tale of drugs in the 80's. So this, combined with Amy Winehouse's recent death has got me thinking about life. I currently see it from this rather depressing and uninspiring angle; you spend a lifetime conforming to a society and its rules, you're expected to get a job, go on benders, marry some lucky bugger, grow old, then die. You spend your entire life searching for the answers to the big questions, that inevitably remain unanswered. 'Why are we here?' 'What is the meaning of life?' There has to be more than this. Taking this into account, it is somewhat understandable to see why people would be attracted to drugs- to escape from the dismal reality. Life is dull, take esctasy. Slip into a surreal fantasy world where everything is intensified. Until the comedown, by which point you'll find yourself craving more, more escapism, more feeling, less reality. And here lies the danger.

Sometimes, you need to lose yourself..

.. To find yourself again.
'Such a morning it is when love
leans through geranium windows
and calls with a cockerel's tongue.

When red-haired girls scamper like roses
over the rain-green grass;
and the sun drips honey.

When hedgerows grow venerable,
berries dry black as blood,
and holes suck in their bees.

Such a morning it is when mice
run whispering from the church,
dragging dropped ears of harvest.

When the partridge draws back his spring
and shoots like a buzzing arrow
over grained and mahogany fields.

When no table is bare,
and no beast dry,
and the tramp feeds on ribs of rabbit.'

-Day of these days by Laurie Lee-

It has been ages since i've blogged- too many night's out and reckless behaviour. Cutting straight to the point, I haven't felt like myself in a while, and only recently have I begun to remember the things that are most important to me. Must start painting again. Today was a beautiful day to enjoy the sun, so we ventured off to Elvaston castle for fun and mischief. Oh and a picnic. Thought I would share some pictures..

All my love x
